Celebrity suicides in 2014 and in recent years include Simone Battle (X Factor Star and member of girl band G.R.L.), Robin Williams (actor), Lee Thompson (actor known for playing the main character on Disney’s “The Famous Jett Jackson”), and Tony Scott (the director of the hit film “Top Gun” among others). Tragic and shocking, it’s opened up the stigma-heavy topic of depression on social media and private conversations all over the world.

I have the privilege of sharing the wisdoms of three wonderful people who have battled depression and self hate, to overcome it and find healing. They were brave and generous to share their powerful stories to all of us. Watch and share because many are struggling silently.

I sit down with Jules Bruff, an award winning actress and filmmaker. Suffering from depression since her early 20’s, she has decided to share her story despite the fact there is still a stigma attached to depression.

My friends and I chat about what to do when you’re depressed and the different types of depression. We discuss how to reach out to friends, self heal and support groups.

Cutting and how she overcame her traumatic past that lead her to self hate. Stephanie’s story give us a look into why people cut and how she found healing within herself to change her life.

We’re talking about self-harm and in particular, cutting in this interview. In the last 10 years, it appears that cutting has increasingly become a coping mechanism for adolescents. Stephanie grew up in a troubled environment with a mom who was a prostitute and a father, her pimp. By eleven years old, both of her parents had passed away. She started cutting at just 8 years old as a means to cope with all of the trauma in her life.

Bipolar disorder, suicidal thoughts & depression. His story starts at just 16 years old, when Ross Szabo was diagnosed with bipolar disorder which escalated to depression, suicidal thoughts, anger control problems and psychotic features. At just 17, he was hospitalized for attempting to take his own life. He has found a way to not just survive, but thrive and has gone on to speak to over a million people on a mission to normalize mental health disorders.

What is bipolar disorder? Ross Szabo was diagnosed with bipolar disorder as a teen and now speak out to help educate people, erasing the stigma behind bipolar disorder. He has found a way to not just survive, but thrive and has gone on to speak to over a million people on a mission to normalize mental health disorders.
